We forget all too soon the things we thought we could never forget.
— Joan Didion —
The children worked long and hard on their own little cardboard shack. It was to be a special spot- a clubhouse- where they could meet in solemn assembly or just laugh, play games, and fool around. As they thought long and hard about their rules, they came up with three rather perceptive ones:
Nobody act big,
Nobody act small.
Everybody act medium.
Everything changes sooner or later. The good becomes bad and the bad becomes good. Profits turn into losses and losses turn into profits. Approval may turn into disapproval and disapproval may turn into approval. Mistakes and setbacks add up to success. Then success leads to failure. This is life. It is never too late to start again.
